Dr Timothy D. Westfall joins UROsphere team

We are pleased to announce the addition of
Dr. Timothy D. Westfall to the UROsphere team.
Dr. Westfall has a Ph.D. in
pharmacology from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, U.K.)
where his research focused on autonomic neurotransmission and smooth muscle
function with an emphasis on urogenital tissues. Dr. Westfall has over 10 years
of pharmaceutical industry experience in the preclinical and early clinical
development of urogenital compounds. Prior to joining UROsphere he worked for GlaxoSmithKline
where he was involved with various urogenital projects including overactive
bladder, BPH, erectile dysfunctions and preterm labor.
Dr. Westfall will be based in the Philadelphia area and
lead development of our North American business.

UROsphere will take part in the European Association of Urology's Annual Meeting and present scientific results on BPH research:
Gilles N, Lluel P, Rekik M, Guerard M, Palea S. AdTx1, a new peptidic α1-adrenoceptor antagonist with high affinity and
selectivity for human α1A-adrenoceptor
subtype: pharmacological characterization.
The company's top managers will also present the company's expertise to members of the Medicon Valley biotech cluster (in Sweden and Denmark) in March 2009.

All of our experimental models have been updated with new datas, technics and new species that are available.
UROsphere's team has also developped two new experimental models for stress or mixed urinary incontinence:
- Measurement of urethral pressure in anesthetized animals
- Simultaneous recording of intraurethral and intravesical pressures.

UROsphere and Vectalys selected by the SISMIP
for their research programme « Discovery of new targets for prostatic
pathologies»

UROsphere and Vectalys (a
company specialized in viral vector production and cell transduction expertises
for gene discovery and validation) are pleased to announce the selection of the
research programme « Discovery of new targets for prostatic
pathologies ». This programme has been retained through an innovative
project call organized by SISMIP (Health Industries Network in the
Midi-Pyrenees Region) and DRIRE Midi-Pyrenees (Regional Board for Industries, Research and Environment).
Both companies will work
together on the programme for 1 year.
The 3SI program for
Innovation in the Health Sector is a call for innovative projects reserved to
SMEs located in Midi-Pyrenees Region. This program is also supported by the
Regional Board of OSEO (France's
national agency for industrial innovation), the Regional Board for Research and
Technology (DRRT), the Cancer-Bio-Health cluster and Midi
Pyrénées Innovation (MPI).
UROsphere et Vectalys sont sélectionnés par le SISMIP pour leur
programme de recherche « Découverte de nouvelles cibles pour le traitement
des pathologies prostatiques ».
UROsphere et Vectalys (société spécialisée dans la
production de vecteurs viraux et de transduction de cellules au service de la
découverte et de la validation de gènes candidats) ont le plaisir d'annoncer
que le projet « Découverte de nouvelles cibles pour le traitement des
pathologies prostatiques » a été retenu dans le cadre de l'appel à
projet 3SI lancé par le SISMIP (groupement des Industries de Santé en
Midi-Pyrénées), et la Direction régionale de l'Industrie, de la Recherche et de
l'Environnement (DRIRE Midi Pyrénées).
Les deux sociétés travailleront conjointement sur ce projet d'une durée
d'1 an.
Le programme 3SI « Support Secteur Santé à l'Innovation » est
un appel à projets innovants de la Filière Santé pour les PME de la Région Midi Pyrénées.
Ce programme est établit en partenariat avec la Direction régionale d'OSEO, la
Délégation régionale à la Recherche et à la Technologie (DRRT), le Pôle de
compétitivité Cancer-Bio-Santé (CBS) et Midi Pyrénées Innovation
(MPI).

UROsphere announces that
OSEO Innovation has awarded a grant over a 2-year period to expand its
experimental research platform for early stage drug development. The funding
will be used to develop innovative in vivo and in vitro models to
offer a wider range of assays for genitourinary pathologies.
OSEO innovation (France's national agency for industrial
innovation) funds innovative, technology-oriented projects for
commercialization in France
and abroad.
OSEO Innovation accorde une aide à UROsphere.
UROsphere annonce avoir reçu une aide d'OSEO Innovation pour une période
de 2 ans pour le développement de sa plateforme de recherche expérimentale de
sélection de candidats médicaments. Les fonds seront utilisés pour le
développement de nouveaux modèles innovants in vivo et in vitro
afin d'accroître son offre de service dans les pathologies génito-urinaires.
