Process

Our specialized experimental research platform dedicated to urogenital pathologies consists of both in vivo and in vitro pharmacological assays.

In vitro assays

Isolated tissues assays

  • Species: human, rat, rabbit, mouse, guinea-pig (others upon request)
  • Tissues: bladder, urethra, ureters, myometrium, prostate, others (include uterus, corpus cavernosum, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, blood vessels)
  • Myogenic and neurogenic contractions
  • Data provide information on the pharmacological characterization of the compound (potency and efficacy, reversibility of drug action)
  • More information on human tissue services

Biochemical markers of lower urinary tract inflammation

Differential gene expression

In vivo assays

We provide a combination of multiple species, techniques and validated animal models for lower urinary tract pathologies.

- Species: rat, rabbit, mouse, guinea-pig (others upon request)

- Animals: normal or genetically modified

- Techniques:

  • Cystometry in anesthetized and conscious animals
  • Cystometry in isovolumetric conditions
  • Simultaneous recording of urethral and vesical pressure
  • Recording of micturition pattern and urine volumes in metabolic cages
  • EMG recording of the urethral sphincter
  • Evaluation of sexual function
  • Pharmacokinetics studies: administration of drugs by different routes and collection of plasma and urine samples for drug quantification
  • Biochemical markers of lower urinary tract inflammation

- Animal models:

  • Normal conditions
  • Cystitis (acute and chronic)
  • Acute bladder irritation
  • Neurogenic bladder (spinal cord injury)
  • Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Renal pathologies including renal fibrosis, ischemia reperfusion, diabetic nephropathy

- Data provide information on the mechanism of action of the compound in physiological or physiopathological conditions, potency, efficacy, onset and duration of action, etc. .
